There are two prime examples of "out of sight, out of mind." One pertains to the very small people who are living within wombs, because many birthed people are okay with not allowing these little ones to, likewise, be born. The other sad fact pertains to the dumping of waste into all bodies of water, most notably the oceans.

When America banned the harmful chemical DDT decades ago, some people dumped several barrels full of DDT into the Pacific Ocean, extremely close to Catalina Island, California. Those barrels are still there today, and continue to leak their contents into the ocean. "Out of sight, out of mind."
