Three months ago, my wife and I completed a 5.5 week vacation within some former Soviet countries; such as Albania, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, etc.
As before, we were happy to pay Overseas Adventures Travel, an American company, for the entire trip. "O.A.T." always arranges terrific trips that include every detail possible, to include airline reservations, airport pickup, hotels, restaurants, etc. No complaints, until now.
Several very fine, very comfortable motor coaches, AKA busses. The longest bus rides were 8 to 11 hours long (I was constantly thinking about how enjoyable it is to cover those very distances on a cruise liner). Although video screens were present on all bus rides, none were ever used. But worse, much worse...the restrooms on all busses were always LOCKED! On behalf of the bus drivers, the English-speaking tour guides always provided lame excuses as to why the restrooms were locked. This did not happen on previous O.A.T. trips.
At fault is the on-going Soviet/Russian attitude towards Americans, because, as illustrated by Joe Biden, to them, we are all spineless people, more dedicated to Political Correctness than in standing up for what is right, decent, and proper.
My next trip will be on Holland-America CRUISE LINE.
